Ground Zero - Launching My Journey

My first project that I have deployed for the world to see-my own little corner on the internet. This is the start of my journey to achieve a dream of mine: creating something from the ground up by myself. However, I'm not going to count it towards my goal.

The Idea

I want to document my journey launching products or services, how they perform, and how much I'm making (or losing) from them. I think it will make for an interesting read. I also enjoy sharing useful information and tech that I come across during my work, so there might also be some guides or blog posts as well.

For this specific page, I wanted to try something new while ensuring it is fast and reliable. The part of building websites I enjoy the most is actually creating the UI. So when it comes to these parts, I want to be able to move quickly and have the freedom to do everything I want without worrying too much about what lies ahead.

The Build

This page was actually built twice. I initially started building it using Go, Templ, Tailwind, and DaisyUI. I had a fully functional static page generator built specifically for this blog. However, soon after completing it, I decided to rebuild it using a different technology.

The technology I chose the second time was Next.js, using ShadCN/UI as the component library. This might be overkill for what this website, but i wanted to try it out

Why?

The Go Templ stack works very well, and I really like the idea of it. It probably works great for a lot of people. However, I decided to move away from it due to the significantly larger amount of knowledge and resources available online for Next.js/React compared to Templ. Additionally, AI tools are much more effective for assisting with Next.js/React than Templ.

Content

As I described earlier, I want to document my journey as I build and launch my ideas. Additionally, I want to improve my writing skills and come up with ideas on how to make this blog better-maybe with some help from you. I find writing challenging, but I hope to improve and make it easier over time.

Monetization

I currently have no plans to make money from this website. There are potential ways to monetize, such as taking sponsorships or creating high-quality guides and content. However, for now, I don't have a plan in place, and I don’t want to change the core idea of this website.

At the moment, this website operates at a loss of $10 per year for domain renewal. The hosting on Cloudflare pages is currently free since i literally have 0 traffic currently. This might change in the future..

Conclusion

The Dcapedcode blog is live! I had the chance to test out some new tech and tools, and I'm looking forward to what the future holds for this page.
